Showa’s Global Ambassador program showcased a traditional part of Japanese culture this week, teaching local college students about a Japanese tradition with a rich history.

Students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology were treated to dinner with Global Ambassadors, followed by a walkthrough of a traditional tea ceremony, hosted in part by Showa’s Tea Ceremony Club. The event, led by Japanese Language program director Yasuyuki Ikuma and Program Services Manager Miyo Le, explored the history of the tea ceremony, as well as the culture and rules surrounding it.

The Global Ambassador program allows Japanese students to act as cultural leaders, giving them a chance to educate the local community about different aspects of Japanese culture.
